Richmond County Basement & Crawl Space Contractor

A wet basement or damp crawl space can make it difficult to fully use and enjoy your home. Water intrusion, excess humidity, musty odors, and other moisture-related problems can also become worse when the source of the problem isn't properly addressed.

For 25 years, homeowners in Richmond County have turned to us for basement waterproofing and crawl space solutions designed to help keep below-grade spaces dry, clean, and protected.

Basement Waterproofing in Richmond County

Basement water problems can show up in several ways. You may notice water coming through cracks, moisture where the floor meets the wall, puddles after heavy rain, musty odors, or consistently high humidity. Instead of simply addressing the visible water, we look at how moisture is entering the basement and recommend a waterproofing solution based on the conditions in your home.

Our basement waterproofing systems can include interior drainage, sump pumps, wall crack repair, and dehumidification. An interior drainage system collects water entering around the basement perimeter and directs it to a sump pump, which pumps it safely away from the home.

Crawl Space Repair & Encapsulation

Crawl spaces are especially vulnerable to moisture because they are often exposed to damp soil, groundwater, and humid air. Over time, those conditions can contribute to musty odors, condensation, mold growth, wood rot, and an uncomfortable environment beneath your home.

Crawl space encapsulation helps separate the space from moisture in the ground and surrounding environment. Depending on your crawl space conditions, we may recommend a combination of drainage, a durable vapor barrier, sump pump protection, and dehumidification to create a cleaner, drier space.

Job Stories From Richmond County, NY
Concrete Lifting for a Staten Island Home

A contractor working at a Wendy's in the Staten Island area notice that they were concrete sections that were sinking and settling causing tripping hazards. Searching the web for solutions he came across our website and read about the PolyLevel System. He was impressed with the way the PolyLevel System worked and decided to get in touch with Quality 1st Basement Systems to request a quote.

Specialist Michael Bonfante met with the contractor, provided a written estimate for him, and a few days later Arturo Jacuinde and his crew were out to lift the slabs and bring them back to level. Penny sized holes were drilled into the concrete and the PolyLevel foam was injected under the slabs. The foam will expand, fill in any voids beneath the slab, and will lift it, stabilizing the concrete. PolyLevel is environmental friendly and waterproof so it will not wash out.

After the installation, all the concrete sections were leveled, the tripping hazards were gone, and this Wendy's restaurant was back to their regular schedule without having to worry about any of their customers tripping and falling.

Wet Concrete Walls Alarmed Homeowner in Staten Island, NY

A homeowner living in Staten Island had water seeping through his concrete basement walls. Within the last year, he had new concrete walls put up in the basement and didn't understand why the water was seeping through. Not knowing much about basement water leaks, he contacted Quality 1st Basement Systems. System Design Specialist, Laszlo Lenkey, went out to visit the home and designed a solution that best fit the homeowners water problems. The homeowner approved the design and received his start date on the spot.

Project Manager, Juan Garcia, and his crew installed WaterGuard underneath the floor slab, preventing the french drain from ever clogging since it is out of the "mud zone". The WaterGuard collects the water seeping through the wall and directs it to the TripleSafe Sump Pump System. The TripleSafe is our largest Sump Pump making it the perfect fit for this large basement. It has a back up battery which allows a continuous pump of water in a power outage. Next, the crew installed a SaniDry Dehumidifier to properly circulate dry air throughout the basement to provide the homeowner with a clean and dry atmosphere. Together, all three of these products will not only keep the basement dry but provide the homeowner with relief knowing that they no longer have to worry when it rains.

For the first time, in a long time, the homeowner prayed for rain in hopes that his Basement Waterproofing System would work and it did! The Staten Island homeowner called Quality 1st saying he was a very satisfied customer and thanked them for his drier basement.

Staten Island Home gets Basement Waterproofed

A Staten Island homeowner was experiencing puddles of rain in their basement every time it rained. Luckily, Quality 1st Basements was able to provide assistance. System Design Specialist, Jeff Nero went to the home and suggested the homeowners install WaterGuard to waterproof their basement. The WaterGuard system is a great product for waterproofing because it is installed underneath the floor slab, so it has a clean and finished appearance instead of an unsightly drain in the basement. Next, TrenchLock was installed by Foreman, Juan Garcia to block unwanted ground air and gasses from entering the basement and the home. A TripleSafe sump pump was installed to pump water out of the basement. The TripleSafe has three different levels of pumps to pump up to 11,500 gallons of water. The homeowners were also experiencing water entering through the basement windows, which were rotting out, so EverLast basement windows were installed. SunHouse Window Wells were installed outside the basement windows to protect the windows from rain, wind and snow, helping to prevent leaks. Lastly, IceGuard was installed to discharge water from the sump pump and away from the home. This basement is fully waterproofed and the homeowners are happy and able to use it for whatever they need!

Waterproofing in Staten Island, NY

A homeowner in Staten Island was experiencing puddles of water in their partially finished basement every time it rained. The homeowners found Quality 1st Basements in a magazine and called for a free estimate. System Design Specialist, Jeff Nero inspected the home and suggested the basement be waterproofed. Foreman, Wilver Cardoza and his team installed the WaterGuard system. This system is installed below the floor slab, resting on top of the foundation footing. This drain is installed with minimal invasion, not leaving an unsightly drain around the basement. This system also collects water that seeps through the basement walls and drains it to the sump pump. TrenchLock  Drain Inserts were installed to block unwanted ground air and gasses from entering the basement. The system comes with balls that fit over the drainage holes, which create an airtight seal when there is no water. When water enters the drain, the ball floats to allow the water to drain, sinking back into place as the water drains out. This allows the drain to function without allowing air to enter. To keep the basement dry and healthy, the SuperSump Premier Pump System was installed. This is a great system for occasional water in the basement that is capable of pumping 2,200 gallons of water per hour! Finally, IceGuard was installed outside the home, on top of the discharge line to provide the water with another way out. IceGuard allows the water that is frozen to escape through slotted openings to prevent from any pipes freezing.
